I believe in the world of contemplative thought as a source of pleasure and fulfilment. I first loved mathematics and physics for their consistent and absolute nature. Their laws awed me, and made me believe in a universal world I can fathom and understand. Apart from modules in number theory, linear programming, photonics, material science and graph theory in secondary school, the love of abstraction and logical reasoning led me to take H3 mathematics.

This conviction remains as firm today as it was then. As the world has evolved, so has PPE. The course brings together some of the most important approaches to understanding the world around us, developing skills useful for a wide range of careers and activities. PPE is a highly flexible degree which allows students to shape their own path: they may choose to specialise in two branches at the end of the first year, or continue with all three. Students can also explore a wide variety of disciplines under the overarching headings of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. Want to go into Politics, have always loved Philosophy and was good at Economics at school. Profile
Politics, Philosophy & Economics Personal Statement
There are the stats for the Personal Statement — no surprises to see that the candidate squeezed as many characters as possible into the document. Economics is the study of now. I view it as the study of the psychology of the people who dictate our lives.
Politics was not an option at GCSE in my school but having grown up in a family of strong minded individuals working in public service I knew it would be my first choice at A —Level. I have not been disappointed. The interactive nature of politics has allowed me to form my own opinions on the effect of political events and their relationship with society. Foreign policy with Syria, fiscal control with the credit crunch, moral objections of same sex marriage are just a few examples of the broad range of subjects that humanities influence and has kept me enthralled throughout my course. Politics is an ever changing subject which means over time it can develop and improve.
